When Inkscape released version 1.3 earlier this year, a new path operation known as "Flatten" was included.

"Flatten" is useful because it allows you to create new paths based on the visual appearance of multiple overlapping paths. This is something that could always be done using a sequence of path operations, but this new feature streamlines it into a single execution.

A good example of when this would be useful is when creating things like mandalas and abstract icons, which I'll be demonstrating in this tutorial.
