In 1998, The Addams Family returned to television in one of the strangest, most forgotten reboots of the ’90s. Airing on Fox Family, The New Addams Family tried to recapture the charm of the original series, while sticking close to the visual style established in the 90's adaptations directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

In this retrospective, I revisit this short-lived revival, explore how it came together, and ask why this odd reboot has been all but erased from pop culture memory.
