Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo Are responsible for the sound of pop during my childhood, if you're my age go back and look at who produced the most popular bops during your childhood, and you'll be surprised how many of them were the made by the neptunes, i think they're synonymous with good pop music honestly

but i can't mention the neptunes without mentioning the guy who took music production to a different level in my opinion - Q-Tip of ATCQ. I'm not the most well versed in music, but from what I've heard, Q-Tips production style and sense of song structure were simply put something different from what these other guys were doing and is responsible for a lot of what is happening in music today, his taste is something special and i think those three guys genuinely influenced by subconscious in terms of how i hear music.

When i listened back to this beat it makes me think of the early period of the neptunes production, except the melodies in this beat are a bit to drawn out to be really similar to what they were doing, drawn out chord based melodies come to me naturally but they tended to use more staccato style melodies, which i honestly think is a weak point of mine and something i'm working on
