Various recordings of the National Periodic Test as it happened on October 4, 2023. Unlike the previous two tests and like the 2018 test, we get a completely different voice message and the alert got issued over FEMA's IPAWS Common Alerting Protocol (CAP) feed.
Additional special thanks to IowanEASFan (@theshitpostsofmsxdotgay976 ) for recording KSXE-LD. I was initially going to, but ran out of time and my recording failing before it could even reach 1:20 PM.

0:00 - KTIV-DT (Gray-owned NBC affiliate)
Crawl only. Featuring a new crawl as part of the recent Gray rebrand package. The recording prior to the test was recorded during News 4 at Noon.
1:17 - KSXE-LD (SagamoreHill-owned Grit affiliate) [*recorded by IowanEASFan]
A Frix's Media Archive 1st! This is the first time I have uploaded any bulletins from that particular channel. Like KTIV's relay this too was crawl only. Although unlike KTIV it just shows the IPAWS CAP message and probably the slowest crawl I've ever seen.
Rather than bore you for a few minutes of muted copyrighted content and a ticker that's nearly as slow as molasses, I have trimmed it to its third revolution (the recording had 4 in total) and fast-forwarded through some of it.
2:26 - KPTH-DT3 (Sinclair-owned CBS affiliate; formerly belonged to KMEG-DT)
About the only thing worth noting is that the crawl container stayed on-screen for about 13 seconds.
3:50 - KPTH-DT1 (Sinclair-owned Fox affiliate)
Ditto, although unlike the CBS affiliate it stays on-screen for a few more seconds.
5:09 - KSIN-DT (Iowa PBS, formerly Iowa Public Television) [blurred to avoid a worldwide block]
I haven't seen Iowa PBS relay from CAP in quite some time.
6:29 - KXNE-DT (Nebraska Public Media's PBS afiiliate) [blurred to avoid a worldwide block]
This is the only TV EAS from the batch that did not relay from IPAWS. (probably KXNE-FM.)
7:28 - Trilithic EASyPLUS (decommissioned unit relaying from KGLI-FM, an iHeart-affiliated Adult contemporary station)
Recorded to DVD using a Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVD Recorder. I would've been on campus as this happened but I managed to schedule a recording earlier in the morning.
Although I tried to record KCAU-DT and one of the channels DIRECTV offers, the former chose not to relay the test and DIRECTV Stream does not relay national level Emergency Alert System messages.
