We discovered a beautiful 6 x 6 bull elk on the top of the mountain that had been dead for over two weeks. After contacting fish and game, they determined that it died of natural causes and gave us permission to salvage the antlers. This is a 300 class bull elk with beautiful dark horns. It would be a shame to leave these antlers on the side of the mountain only to be chewed up by porcupines, squirrels and other wild creatures. Unfortunately, the temperature was in the mid 80s and the elk and dead for over two weeks. The smell was so overpowering that you can almost taste it in the air.
