The Titan Prometheus is among the most influential and controversial figures in Greek Mythology. He shaped humanity from clay and gifted us fire; fire which he stole from the gods, a crime for which he is punished by Zeus. Yet in fragments of lost myth, a son of Zeus sees to it that his punishment is not forever.
Philosophers, writers, and artists have wrestled with the myth of Prometheus for thousands of years, debating whether he is a hero or villain, and if his gift of fire is a blessing or a curse. But universally, every time and place that examines his story becomes a center of arts and culture. In engaging with the myth of Prometheus, the champion of humanity and rival of Zeus, we might find the same wisdom and inspiration that they did.
