Summer is here, and we're introducing our newest Historical Match: Beachy Head Woman. 🏖️
Her skeleton was found in 2012 in a storage box in an English Town Hall with nothing but a label reading "Beachy Head, 1959." What followed was more than a decade of conflicting scientific interpretations. Analysis of her skull initially suggested sub-Saharan African ancestry, but isotope data and, eventually, high-quality ancient DNA from London's Natural History Museum told a very different story.
