The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) retells Charles Dickens’s classic holiday tale with heartfelt sincerity and playful humor as Ebenezer Scrooge learns the true meaning of Christmas through visits from three spirits.
In Victorian London, the bitter and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine) is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his former partner and three Christmas spirits who guide him through his past, present, and possible future, revealing the pain his greed has caused and the joy he still has time to reclaim; narrated by Charles Dickens himself in Muppet form (Gonzo, with Rizzo the Rat), the story follows Scrooge’s mistreatment of his loyal clerk Bob Cratchit (Kermit the Frog), the struggles of the Cratchit family (including Emily Cratchit, Miss Piggy), and Scrooge’s ultimate redemption as he awakens on Christmas morning transformed, generous, and full of goodwill toward all.
