My friend here, Calamity Jane, who you can visit at NOGAWILD in Georgia, will lick you the second you stop petting her. I don’t know if that’s common with the species, or just a her-thing!

Native to Southeast Asia, muntjacs are known as the "barking deer" because they sound more like dogs than deer when they're alarmed. Males even have tiny tusks, but this gal doesn't.

About the size of a medium dog, they're surprisingly bold despite their small stature and spend much of their lives hidden in dense forests.
