In this early story of mine, told at the Moth StorySLAM Boston, I tell a tale about learning the origins of my grandparents' marriage, my deadbeat grandfather, my resourceful grandmother, and family secrets that stayed hidden until a cousin's wedding.
The Moth StorySLAM storytelling events are live contests for storytellers where each storyteller is given five minutes to tell a true story without notes. Ten stories are told at each StorySLAM event, and one winner is chosen from the stories told. StorySLAM winners then go on to the Moth GrandSLAM events, where they compete with other storytellers who have won their events.
