Shortly after moving in with his wife, children and servants, they were plagued by unexplained phenomena. This included poltergeist activity and full apparitions.
The head of the family believed it was the spirit of his vengeful grandmother, but others believe it to be the work of many spirits. The ghostly manifestations were witnessed by numerous people.
The unrelenting supernatural activity not only drove him and the family out of the house, but drove the poor man insane. The mere shadow of his former self, he died shortly afterwards.
