Custom-made by Leading Male in Brooklyn, the suit was built to move. Travolta’s black shirt was stitched directly into the flared trousers to create a hidden jumpsuit, giving him the freedom to hit every step without his shirt coming untucked.Â
The suit’s story continued long after Travolta left the dance floor. Legendary film critic Gene Siskel purchased it at a charity auction in 1979 and considered it the most prized possession in his collection. Travolta later added a personal handwritten message inside the lining: “To Gene, So here’s to a classic, your friend, John Travolta.”
