Real RX or "12 Stout Street" is a song by rapper RX Papi featuring lyrics about the rapper's mother kicking him out of the house and turning to the gang life at an early age. The song was released in November 2021 and went viral on TikTok in May through June 2022, often used in videos about being depressed or in ironic meme videos. In June 2022, a sped-up version of the song went viral on the platform.
Sad TikTok Slideshows and Sad Slideshow Audios, also known as Depressing Slideshow Audios, Depressing TikTok Slideshows or Sad TikTok Photo Swipes, refers to a trend on TikTok in which creators make depressing sounds in CapCut using demotivational soundbites, clips and music so that others can use it to make a photo slideshow that romanticizes depression, loneliness, mental illness and suffering. The slideshows became a cliché on the platform as people either found them cringy or relatable and made parodies of them that used more obtuse or aggressive clips and soundbites. Phrases like Slideshows Boutta Go Crazy or Slideshows Gonna Be Crazy started trending in anticipation of the sound's usage by depressed others. Most of the sounds use the song "Inside Out" by Duster, however, many say that the trend started in late 2021 with the song "12 Stout Street" by RX Papi and Gud.

Eminem referenced his alter ego, Slim Shady, in songs like My Name Is (1999) and The Real Slim Shady (2000). The image of Slim Shady is synonymous with how Eminem appeared as a young man on stage and in videos, including his bleached blonde hair. The provocative persona was described by Time in 2002 as a nightmare projection and raging fantasy id.[3]
On March 19, 2024, long-time producer and collaborator Dr. Dre revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that Eminem was working on his next studio album and that it would be releasing in 2024.[4] On April 26, during the 2024 NFL draft event in his hometown Detroit,[5] he shared a video in the style of real crime show Unsolved Mysteries that poses the question who killed Slim Shady?.[6] A reporter dressed in a trenchcoat lists the enemies Shady has made over the years, with rapper 50 Cent commenting on the persona.[7] The teaser also incorporated clips of My Name Is, The Real Slim Shady, and Without Me (2002).[8] The album and tentative release date were announced at the end of the 56-second long video, along with the opportunity to pre-save the record.[9]
