Most wrestling games follow a pretty standard formula; you'll you work your way up the card, win the world title, and the credits roll while your character celebrates in the ring. Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special on the Super Famicom decided to do something completely different, and the results were pretty dark.
This video covers the infamous Super Fire Pro Wrestling Champion Mode and the direction the main story took thanks to Goichi Suda (better knownas Suda51). What starts as a standard quest for glory quickly turns into a psychological breakdown, proving that even back in 1994 Suda51 was not interested in telling conventional stories.
We’re looking at the tragic journey of Morio, his rivalry with Dick Slender (the game's version of Ric Flair), and the ending that remains the most disturbing moments in the history of the genre.
