In which I list ten massive tomes by dead white men that I have had on my master TBR list for entirely too long. Which ones should I read first?!

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM SHAWN THE BOOK MANIAC FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS TAG: please use the full tag name for your version. If it feels authentic for you to shout out the podcast in your video, that would be great. However, if you’re not into book podcasts, you don’t have to pretend. But at minimum do keep the title intact, and copy and paste both the information below about the podcast AND this paragraph in your show notes. Thank you!

This is a very simple tag: simply tell us about 10 books on your bucket list, books you want to read sometime before you shuffle off this mortal coil, in the fullness of time but not necessarily anytime soon.

Optional plot twist: have your subscribers vote, either in the comments section or in some kind of a Google docs poll or whatever, on which two books from your bucket list you have to read by a certain date (such as “by the end of 2022”).

My Ten “Dead White Men” Books:
Les Miserable by Victor Hugo (1862)
Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens (1865)
War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (1869)
The Way We Live Now by Anthony Trollope (1875)
A Portrait of a Lady by Henry James (1881)
Buddenbrooks by Thomas Mann (1901)
Proust’s In Search of Lost Time (1913-1927)
The USA Trilogy by John Dos Passos (1930-1936)
Life and Fate by Wassily Grossman (written in 1959 and published in 1980)
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (1985)
