Even @Oprah has wondered what her next job was going to be.
When she was wrapping up the Oprah show, the talk show host, producer and philanthropist asked herself, “How am I gonna use my life now? What are you going to do?”
The answer was launching her own network, a move into unfamiliar territory. Looking back, Oprah says she approached that transition with the wrong mindset.
“The big mistake that I made, and it took me a while to course correct it, is literally feeling like, ‘I did this, so now I gotta do this.’”
Instead of doing things out of obligation, Oprah says, “Take your time to feel your way to the next right thing.” She continues, “Anybody who’s thinking of retiring, or you’re thinking of shifting your job, give yourself the time you deserve to make the next right decision.”
And if you’re unsure of where to start, she encourages people to look for a way to contribute to something bigger than themselves.
