An overview of the sounds of the various modes, specifically as they apply in the music of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead, Trey Anastasio and Phish, as well as the many other bands who specialize in the Art of the Jam.

This video is designed for guitar players who are just starting to explore the modes, and who are looking to get a better sense of what the modes sound like and how they are used as a framework for improvisation. Real-world clips are included, providing examples of these ideas in action. You do NOT need to know any music theory AT ALL for this lesson...you just need to know a few chords, and love the music of Phish, the Dead, etc.
