This is the console that defined British pop. Installed new at Sarm West Studio 2 in 1983, Trevor Horn’s Solid State Logic mixing desk became the beating heart of some of the biggest hits in music history.
From Owner of a Lonely Heart and Relax to Slave to the Rhythm and Kiss from a Rose, this desk captured the sound of the 80s and 90s, shaping records by Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, Seal and many more. Careless Whisper was created on it and the Pet Shop Boys made it their creative home.
Horn called it “lucky,” a console responsible for a disproportionate number of hits, and kept it for 34 years. Now, for the first time, this legendary piece of studio history comes to auction in our Music Memorabilia Live Auction.
