Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down The Mist.

Now this is a film I remember vividly watching all the way back in 2007. Walking it it felt like we were attending a big b-movie with all the trimmings of a 50s classic. However upon leaving the movie I remember being shook by its unforgettable ending. All these years later it's something that's stuck with me and I think everyone who's seen it shares the same feeling.

Though this was the mist...he certainly never missed and that's...the one bad joke of the video.

Nah but this movie has something that will stick with you forever and throughout this video we're gonna break it all down. It's a film that has a lot going on beneath the surface and lots of deeper layers that we need to unpack.

I also wanna talk about those Lovecraftian creatures and hopefully bring you one of the most indepth videos that we've ever made.

Now the synposis for the movie sums up some of it's themes but even that I think hides things from us. It says:

Although a monster movie, the central theme explores what ordinary people are driven to do under extraordinary circumstances.

Sure, I can see how you could come to that but ultimately I think the films about fear. This to me is about the fear of the unknown and how it can drive one to do insane things.
