Wishing fair winds and following seas to DMS Anita! ⛵
Yesterday afternoon, WHOI Corporation Members Ham Lord and Daniel Hui, supervised by WHOI scientist Glen Gawarkiewicz, deployed this miniboat from the aft deck of R/V Neil Armstrong on behalf of 5th grade students from Dudley Middle School in Massachusetts.
The kit-made vessel is a part of the Educational Passages Program, a nonprofit that gives students access to basic ocean science. As it traverses the Gulf Stream, the miniboat will be taking temperature and sea state readings which can be tracked online.
