"The Mexican" was written by Alan Shacklock and first recorded by his band, Babe Ruth, in 1972 with vocalist Janita "Jenny" Haan. The Jellybean version is from 1984 and Jenny Haan provided the vocals. It reached #1 on the U.S. Dance Chart.
