Goku has overcome many villains in Dragon Ball, but he doesn’t always do it the same way. I’m sure you’ve even noticed that the way Goku handles villains and antagonists has changed over time, but why? Most people see Goku as being selfishly merciful - never changing in his belief that enemies can be redeemed into good people and become great rivals for him to have fun fights against in the future. Vegeta even says this himself in his famous speech in the Buu Saga - but at least in the original manga - this isn’t the case at all. So let's discuss how Goku's view on Mercy changed over the course of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z.
