This concert in 2005 featured the original lead singer of the Marvelettes, Gladys Horton(1944-1/26/2011) performing her 1961 hit "Please Mr. Postman". Please note,the singers who are backing her are NOT original members of the Marvelettes. Funk Brothers Jack Ashford (tamborines)and Joe Hunter (keyboards) are seen playing with her.
1/27/11 NOTE: Gladys Horton passed away at age 66 in a nursing home in Sherman Oaks, California where she had been recouperating from a stroke on January 26, 2011. While her voice has been stilled, her singing will live on with her fans here and abroad and will always be a part of the musical fabric that made up the Motown Sound. Thank you, Gladys. God Bless and take your rest.
