In 2020, three months after California ordered theme parks closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Six Flags reopened its Vallejo, CA park, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, as a zoo. The event, dubbed the Marine World Experience, harkened back to the park's origins as a marine animal and wildlife park called Marine World/Africa USA.
