A project nurtured on mutual respect
The Manhattan Transfer belong ot the aristocracy of Jazz and yet they defy labels to describe their style. Since their beginnings 50 years ago, they have never stopped innovating and pushing the boundaries. Bart&Baker share the same values and hunger for creativity.
Bart&Baker were longtime fan of the quatuor and The Manhattan Transfer were admirers of the Electro Swing serie (11 volumes) curated by the duo for Wagram Music. In 2018 at the time of the release of The Manhattan Transfer latest studio album « The Junction », the band commissionned the duo to produce an official remix of « Swing Balboa »
The band loved the results and proposed a new artistic challenge. Work their fingers on their most iconic track, Twilight Tone / Twilight Zone, a disco underground styled track paying tribute to the TV show « Twilight Zone ».
New directions in Electro Funk and Electro Swing
In this EP exclusively released on Bart&Baker Music Label and distributed by Wagram Music, two remixes explore new directions in Electro Funk and Electro Swing.
For their remix, Bart&Baker have chosen to pay tribute to the French Touch. Tracks from this period were usually sampling New York Underground Disco tracks.
For the Electro Swing remix, Bart&Baker have chosen to collaborate with Wolfgang Lohr, a Berlin based DJ and Producer, who’s in high demand.
Bart&Baker add: « When one of your favorite artist gets in touch with you to declare their interest on your works and last but not least put their confidence in your taste to imagine new versions of their iconic track, you remember you are part of a community where those miracles happen.».
