On June 27, 1967, the world's first Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was installed at a Barclays Bank branch in London. For the first time, customers could withdraw cash without stepping inside a bank or speaking with a teller.
What seemed like a futuristic experiment quickly transformed everyday banking. Today, millions of ATMs serve people around the world, making access to cash possible 24 hours a day and changing how we manage money.
Sometimes the biggest innovations are the ones we use without even thinking about them.
