Apple quietly dropped a brand new Mac category with no keynote, just a soft release, which already says a lot about how confident they are in this product. The Neo is built to pull people into the Apple ecosystem — students, first-time Mac users, and even casual users who just want something simple, clean, and reliable. Starting at $599 (or $499 with the student discount), it’s one of the easiest entry points into Macs right now, offering solid everyday performance with the A18 Pro chip, a premium build, and smooth macOS experience. But it’s not perfect — the 8GB RAM can be limiting, especially for multitasking or long-term use, and this isn’t the machine for heavy creators, developers, or anyone pushing 4K workflows. Still, for school, browsing, light editing, and general use, it delivers exactly where it needs to. I also compare it to the MacBook Air and talk about whether spending a bit more now could save you later. At the end of the day, this is the Mac that gets you in the door… but once you’re in, Apple probably isn’t letting you leave.
