Isaiah 9:1–7 traces the long arc of God’s redemptive purpose, showing that Christmas was not an interruption in history but the unfolding of a plan established long before Christ’s birth.
Pastor Andrew traces Isaiah’s prophecy from darkness to light, from oppression to joy, and from waiting to fulfillment. The promised Child is presented as fully human and fully divine, born in time yet ruling eternally. His coming brings real hope to those who walked in darkness and announces a kingdom that cannot be shaken.
The names given to this Son—Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace—reveal both His nature and His mission. He does not merely comfort God’s people; He delivers them, establishes righteous rule, and secures lasting peace. That work ultimately moves through the cross, where the King conquers through suffering.
The message also looks forward. The fulfillment of this promise did not end in Bethlehem. The reign of Christ continues, and His peace will increase without end. God’s people now live as witnesses to this long-proclaimed redemption, confident that what God has promised, He will accomplish.
The certainty of these truths rests not in human effort, but in the zeal of the Lord of hosts, who guarantees the fulfillment of His Word.
