In a park built on a landfill on the coast of the San Francisco Bay Area, native plants grow in the arc of the shoreline that once existed before human transformation of the land.
Long Now Member & environmental artist Linda Gass creates land art —first with artificial survey whiskers, and then with reeds and many helping hands— to mark the ways humans have changed Cooley Landing in East Palo Alto, California.
For almost two decades, Long Now has produced hundreds of talks from the world’s leading long-term thinkers, all possible because of the support of our members and donors. Now, we are showcasing a curated set of short Ignite Talks created and given by Long Now Members themselves.
Ignite Talks is a story format created by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Each talk is exactly 5 minutes long, told by a speaker working with 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds (ready or not).

"Long Now Member Ignite Talks 02022" was given on May 25, 02022 as part of Long Now's Seminar series.
