Humming 'Sweet Dreams', she is stalked by a monstrous figure and suddenly attacked, leaving behind only her scattered belongings. Detective Nick Burkhardt is ring shopping, preparing to propose to his girlfriend Juliette. His partner Hank interrupts to call him to a crime scene. As they walk to the car, Nick is shocked when a passing woman's face momentarily warps into a decaying, monstrous visage.
