I originally made most of this in 2017 for a 20-minute nonsense music project. I actually composed the melody using a fun strategy where I started off by composing a monophonic Gregorian chant with a loose tempo and no time signature. Then I incorporated the melody into the samba style by adding syncopation and chord changes. Honestly, the result feels really inventive and I should do it again with a different style.
Will we return to the beach for yet another bossa nova/samba/calypso theme in the future? Will Andrew add another unnecessary vocal track? Stay tuned to find out!
