PBS Books | The Legend of the Golem -- Author Talk with Adam Mansbach @PBSBooks | Uploaded November 2023 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
PBS Books presents a conversation with New York Times #1 best-selling author, Adam Mansbach, discussing his latest book, “The Golem of Brooklyn,” just released this fall. It’s been described as a “dazzlingly imaginative, ferociously funny story of an art teacher, a bodega clerk and a five-thousand-year-old clay crisis legendary figure (aka the Golem).” Mansbach is joined by Dr. Justin Sledge, a professor of Ethics, Religion and Social-Political Philosophy, to explore the fabled history of the Golem in Jewish thought, its history and its lessons for contemporary life including the concept of “tikkun olan (repairing the world).” The moderator is Angelique Power, president and CEO of the Skillman Foundation. The event was hosted by Reboot – a national arts and culture nonprofit that reimagines and reinforces Jewish thought and traditions, in partnership with Detroit Public Television and Detroit Public Theatre.
