Join us tonight for our Wednesday Night Doctrinal Training as we continue working through the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, focusing on Chapter 19: The Law of God (Week 2).
Tonight’s session will be taught by Pastor Jeremiah Nortier, as we consider the perpetuity of the moral law and its role in the life of the believer.
This lesson presses into a critical truth: the law is no longer a covenant of works for the Christian, yet it remains an essential guide for the believer’s life. We will examine how the law functions as a rule of life, how it exposes sin, restrains evil, and drives us to Christ, and how it harmonizes with the gospel rather than opposing it .
We will also explore the relationship between law and gospel, seeing how they “sweetly comply” together, where the law commands and the gospel supplies, where the law reveals sin and the gospel forgives, and where obedience becomes not forced, but transformed by grace .
