🗽Frédéric Bastiat (1801 - 1850) was a French political and economic philosopher who wrote that every individual human deserves equal rights & equal justice under "the law" (or individual "God-given / natural rights" to one's life, liberty & property).

🗽According to Bastiat, when Government officials ("the State") fail to protect individual human rights, but rather violate them, the Government inevitably becomes limitless. The resulting "statism" becomes a monster based on this triple hypothesis: "the total inertness of mankind, the omnipotence of the law, and the infallibility of the legislator".
🗽"If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?" - Bastiat
