June 3 and 6, 2014: The last SOO SD60M number 6061 is seen in a mixed consist on manifest trains 38G and 15T. The SOO SD60M was quite a surprise; this was my first—and probably will be my last—time seeing one of these locomotives. Another surprising feature is the appearance of Black River & Western switcher, SW1200RS number 8142, a former Canadian Pacific locomotive, which is ironic, because the SOO SD60M is soon to become one.

0:00 - 38G rumbles down hill on the single track as on its final westbound stretch of the Reading Line from Allentown. A BNSF leader and a shortline switcher also mixes things up for a change.
1:05 - 38G is now heading east on the Harrisburg Line toward its destination in Pavonia Yard on Conrail Shared Assets just outside of Camden, NJ. The shot was a difficult one, since I was facing right into a filtered sun, but this allowed the opportunity to pan the lead locomotive, offering a correct/front view of the SOO 6061.

2:45 - Despite the terrible lighting conditions for 38G (and worse...darkness for 39G), patience would soon reward itself with a near spotless sky for evening westbound 15T, which departs Allentown for a much farther destination in Birmingham, Alabama at Irondale Yard. I tried something new here: I found an old tripod and strapped my iPhone to it for a going away shot, after all, the locomotive and it's iconic 3-window cab was unfortunately facing the wrong way again. Let me know what you think. Also, I show the whole train (with the exception of the power going away).
