The last regularly-scheduled Canadian Pacific trackage rights train No. 257 (Oak Island, NJ to Bethelehem, PA) is seen traveling west through Bound Brook, New Jersey on the Conrail Shared Assets Lehigh Line. Once through Port Reading Junction, the train continued west across the Norfolk Southern Lehigh Line to its destination of River Yard in Bethelehem, Pennsylvania. The final train was comprised of three locomotives and 68 cars. After 257 passed NS 32A, who was working Manville Yard, 32A gave 257 a “good on the marker” over the radio and 257 replied “Thank you! Last time you’ll be giving us that!” And so another piece of railroading took its place in history.
Locomotives were: DME SD40-3 No. 6075 (in patched CP paint), ICE SD40-2 No. 6430 and CP SD40-2 No. 5968.
