Here is a fungus (Mucor sp.) which, if left unchecked within the human body can in fact kill you very rapidly. It won't turn you into a zombie like in the series "The Last of Us" however, it can quickly degrade living tissue within hours to days, literally one's flesh rots away just like in the movies.
Luckily for most people with a healthy immune system, this ubiquitous mould is harmless.
Fungal spores from this fungus can be found on dust particles in the air, soil and in the water, basically everywhere.
The generic name of the disease in humans is known as Mucormycosis and you can read more about it here:
