A really beautiful song by a great song writer Jez Lowe from the North East of England. Its about a mining disaster at the Easington mine where 83 miners lost their lives. (two were rescue workers). I took the song out to learn and it coincided with a visit to the Brunner coalmine, the site of the worst mining disaster in NZ's history and I found myself very moved by the whole painful story. The disaster took place on the 29th of May 1951.
