These 2 videos were recorded August 10th of 2025 in Cantagallo, also known as La Dehesa and Lo Barnechea. By 8:00 P.M. the store officially closed and people slowly left the building. In this day, you could tell adults and kids alike were emotional with the closure of what was the first South American store opened and what was then the last performing and working Munch's Make Believe Band in this side of the globe.
Despite this, there was still hope. Something that CEC Chile announced which seemed as a guarantee... The first International Legacy Store. Fans were excited and knew how important this was not just to the fans, but for everyone alike that grew up, watched, heard of knew of Chuck E. Cheese's and what the experience offered that no other could, performing animatronics.
What seemed like weeks, turned into months and as of today, 10th of August 2026... a year.
Just like that, it slowly became clear something weird was going on as no longer there were any news, responses or any communication from the franchise that explained what happened to this announced legacy store.
All it took was to contact them through LinkedIn in which CEC Chile made it clear that animatronics were not something they were interested in bringing back. That they were basically obsolete, too expensive to take care of and wasn't modern like the "stunning" screen walls that the stores now open with or remodel with.
These are not just simple animatronics, these are animatronics that brought happiness, joy, confort to people. These are animatronics that survived through out different stores, relocations, removals, remodels... so many things. But they never stopped entertaining people either in the US or through the 3 different Chuck E. Cheese's locations that they performed within Chile.
Do your part and bring awareness to the return of the animatronics through CEC Chile's social media accounts and let's bring these historical pieces of CEC history to the stage where they belong.
