Hi Spacecats, I'm Dr Maggie Lieu and welcome to my channel, where you can find all things space, astronomy and physics! I recently got a private tour of The Large Binocular Telescope, a massive double mirrored ground based telescope located atop Mount Graham in southeastern Arizona. It is one of the world's most advanced optical telescopes. Comprising two identical 8.4-meter mirrors mounted side-by-side, the LBT functions as a single astronomical instrument with unrivaled light-gathering capabilities and exceptional resolution. Its unique design allows astronomers to observe distant galaxies, nebulae, and star systems with incredible clarity and detail. The LBT plays a crucial role in advancing our understanding of the universe, contributing significantly to research in fields such as cosmology, astrophysics, and planetary science. Let's take a look inside!
