James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) was one of the biggest movies in the world at one point, and as its sequel, The Way of Water, has just debuted I thought it would be interesting to discuss the first Avatar film, what made it so popular, and why it was rightfully so disliked by the same communities it claimed to celebrate and represent.
