Playthrough with the Psycho Soldier team. When I originally beat this version, I used the Art of Fighting team, so why the switch? Well it's because I was made aware of something I'd missed all these years: this team have a new credits sequence which wasn't in the cartridge version. If you beat the game with them, Athena will sing a song during the credits, whilst Chin and Kensou are her band. I think this is in the PS1 and Saturn ports too.
This meant having to beat the game with the Psycho Soldier team, which I was dreading. But honestly, it went pretty well, this team can take down the CPU pretty easily once you know what to do. Athena's phoenix arrow is good since it's largely safe on block. Kensou has a new dive attack move, although it's not always great. But his strong kick is fast and the CPU often gets hit by it.
But the main star of this show is Chin, especially for when it comes to turning the tables on SNK boss syndrome. Many opponents will get hit by his strong punch. Saisyu can be dealt with just with well-timed QCB+C attacks, if you can time it right he'll always try to counter it with his own projectile, but fail. Omega Rugal acts very strangely, if you just get to the corner Rugal tends to wait around. You can hit him with strong punches, but Chin has something even better than that: his desperation move. It’s extremely overpowered in this game because of how much damage it does when blocked, if you’re at close range it does almost as much as when it hits the opponent.
The Neo Geo CD version of KoF '95 is the first one to feature loading between rounds -the port of KoF '94 didn't have this. The loading only gets worse from here. The music has two track variations for each team, to try and make it sound like it's continuously playing between rounds instead of restarting. As mentioned earlier, the Psycho Soldier team have a new credits sequence in this version. The Japanese version also has a special extra at the end of the game, where Kyo would appear and talk about the next tournament. But this sequence was cut from the non-Japanese versions.
