💬 The most powerful takeaway is that governments showed up and made tangible commitments.

At the WHS Regional Meeting 2026, Prof. Lukoye, International President of the World Health Summit 2025/26, reflected on the strong political momentum emerging from the discussions.

With more than 15 health ministers in attendance, governments pledged to reorganize their health systems and financing, strengthen collaboration with academia, and design systems that are resilient, people‑centred, and prepared for future epidemics and pandemics️.

For Prof. Lukoye, this level of engagement shows that reimagining health in Africa is moving from vision to concrete action, driven by countries themselves and aligned with the needs of their populations.

Building resilient health systems is not just an aspiration. In Nairobi, it became a shared commitment.
