The Kansas Landscape Arboretum is a small preserve on the west side of Milford Lake near Wakefield, KS. Floods kept us from visiting last year, but now that the waters have receded we wre able to finally explore this beautiful location. It was well worth the wait as we arrived at the most perfect times of year. Spring blooming flowers and all the beautiful colors of the Kansas outdoors were on display for us to enjoy! Home to over 1000 species of native and exotic woody plants that have adapted to the Kansas environment, the Arboretum plays host to a wide variety of Midwest plant life. Collections of oaks, mulberry, and (our favorite) flowering crabtrees decorate the scenery. Perfect for bird watching, nature photography, or day hiking on the many nature trails, The Kansas Landscape Arboretum is a gem for those who wish to commune with nature. We fell in love with the place instantly and will return again soon.
