A seat at this table helps put a meal on theirs. 🚌🥗For the final stop of the 2025 Lerner & Rowe Gives Back Grant Recipient Tour, we visited a truly inspiring place: The Joy Bus Diner. This isn't just a popular Phoenix breakfast and lunch spot; it is a 100% nonprofit diner where every dollar spent goes directly toward feeding local cancer patients.The Mission of The Joy Bus:Founded by Chef Jennifer Caraway in honor of her friend Joy, the organization focuses on relieving the daily struggles of people with cancer. They provide fresh, healthy, medically tailored meals delivered by volunteers who offer not just nourishment, but a friendly face and a wellness check during a difficult time.
The Impact of the Grant:Lerner & Rowe Gives Back is proud to present a $10,000 grant to support the "More Than a Meal" program. This donation will help provide thousands of meal packages throughout the Valley.What makes a Joy Bus delivery special? Personalized Care: Each meal bag is individually hand-decorated by volunteers.Full Nutrition: Packages include a salad, breakfast, three entrees, fresh fruit, and snacks.A Touch of Joy: Every delivery includes a fresh bouquet of flowers to brighten a patient's day. Volunteer Driven: Last year, volunteers contributed over 12,000 hours, saving the organization roughly $43,000 in labor costs—money that goes right back into buying food for those in need. About Lerner & Rowe Gives Back:Our 2025 Grant Cycle has been an incredible journey, supporting 28 Arizona nonprofits across youth programs, health and human services, and public safety. This tour has allowed us to witness firsthand the compassion and resilience that makes our community strong.
