Here's an old cassette recording from my personal collection, almost an hour of an episode of "The Joel Martin Show," as carried on WBAB 102.3 FM, out of Babylon, New York (Long Island). Martin did a live midnight program on weeknights, with topics ranging from local political coverage, to paranormal subjects (he often featured prominent UFO investigators of LI, and "Psychic George" Anderson), to area comedians and performers.
The theme for this show was comedy TV trivia, with guests Jay and Glen. According to Martin, Glen Goulet was a writer for David Letterman, but I couldn't find out a thing about that. If Jay's last name was offered, I didn't catch it. They're pretty funny guys, with the the program covering trivia about The Odd Couple, The Honeymooners (with the Royal Association for the Longevity and Preservation of the Honeymooners--RALPH, of course--getting major shouting-out), Hogan Heroes, Jerry Lewis, and much more.
There's a mention of an upcoming protest called "Pull the Plug on LILCO Day," targeting the Long Island Lighting Company and their Shoreham nuclear power plant. Based on searches, this happened in early August 1983. There are a few jumps--when the tape was flipped, plus I cut out a short Howard Stern bit which I had later taped near the start of side two, about thirty-one minutes into this video. I think I cut out all the ads, except for a bit of a Crazy Eddie "Christmas in August" spot.
Audio quality is not great--just look at that cheapo generic tape in the thumbnail! It's amazing it has survived at all!
And NO, other YouTubers, you may NOT hijack this video for your own channels--I'd prefer the meager views stay right here, thanks!
