For children who have fled war, starting school in a new place with different languages and cultures is daunting. When refugee children are given the right support school can transform into a place where they can heal from some of the trauma they have faced.
Classrooms can be a healing space, and we stand with teachers for the incredible work they do every day. The IRC’s ‘Healing Classrooms’ helps teachers and support staff to create a safe space for these children to learn and thrive.
We spoke to refugee children from Afghanistan, Syria and Ukraine. This is what they told us.
