I continue my journey through Mamoru Hosoda's filmography with a trip back to the mid-2010s for The Boy And The Beast (2015).

Bakemono no Ko is a beautiful film with a rock-solid emotional core that drills deep into your heart with surgeon-like precision. It's a story of not just two different worlds, but two different people coming together to lift each other up. It's a story of misfits, but it's also a story of found family and fatherhood. This is an analysis of that story.
