Update: Reid has promised to put the bill before Congress again. Let's hope he does, and that it passes. I didn't explicitly say this, but Kudos to Speaker Pelosi for kicking this through the House.

It was defeated by not even one GOP Senator voting to end their fillibuster. If the bill had gotten a vote, it would have passed - the GOP just didn't let
it come to the floor, and the Democrats weren't rubbing it in their faces.
