#music for #musicmonday today was inspired by someone encouragingly reaching out recently, serving to remind me of everything I keep striving for.
This is a really personal song for me (I have the whole last verse tattooed on my chest, and you can see all the decor in the room behind me...), I couldn't get through covering this song. It took all day to record this video. My voice was shot by this last take. I kept breaking down crying. I guess I'm giving you this recording rather than keep trying til I can make it through and sound the way I want it to, because maybe that's the point of the impossible dream.
"And I think Don Quixote would likely agree. Even in the dumbest misguided impulses, even in desperation, maybe it’s worth tilting at the windmill again. Sharing your heart again. Trying to understand again. Trying to do better again. Trying to find God again. Trying to find or give love again. Empires and countries rise and fall throughout history, and then some people read the history books and try to do it again but better. And do a bad job. And then a small group says “maybe we can try to fix it? I dunno, try it like this.” And do a bad job again. I think the most beautiful, human thing any of us can do is just keep giving human life a try, and be willing to be surprised on the days when it actually goes really well."
Keep tilting at windmills. Don't give up.
